New England Equal Longest Winning Streak From Tom Brady Years with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Fields rushing for a short rushing score to cap the New York's initial series
But the home team answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the triumph
