Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
