British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health follows the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
